Akhil Anand, a promising young artist, is set to showcase his latest works in a solo exhibition titled Morphogenesis. This event, running until August 7, 2025, at ArtSpace by KalpaDruma, Gopalpuram, promises to be a captivating display of Akhil's unique artistry.

Born to chess Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand, Akhil has been influenced by his father's strategic thinking and creative process. However, he credits his solutions to problems rather than direct advice from his father.

Akhil's art is a fusion of Indian traditional art forms, renowned Indian artists, mathematical patterns representing natural phenomena, and a thematic concern for nature and sustainability. His works reference the pattern-based aesthetics of traditional Indian art forms such as Gond, Madhubani, Cheriyal, Warli, and the bold simplicity seen in Jamini Roy’s and M.F. Husain’s paintings.

One of the highlights of Akhil Anand's show is the Terrific Tiger series, inspired by a David Attenborough documentary. This series, done in the Gond style, features intricate paintings of tigers, showcasing the animals' unique stripes and their interactions in the wild. One painting depicts a tiger cub recognising its father through its distinctive stripes, while another captures a heartwarming scene of a cub snoring beside its mother.

Akhil is committed to sustainability and aims to become an environmental and sustainability specialist. His art serves as a medium to discuss environmental and sustainability issues, including turtle extinction and climate change. He believes that art helps him express how he sees the world, and his work reflects his perspectives, incorporating patterns found in nature, mathematics, and geometry.

In addition to his solo exhibition, Akhil collaborates with Hastha Foundation on a creative label called Akhilisms, which makes art more accessible and wearable. He is also active on Twitter at @appurvaa_.
