Alte Ziegelei Park Revamped for IGA 2027 with Sandstone Wall and Eco-Habitats
A section of the 'Alte Ziegelei' park complex has been revamped for the Internationale Gartenausstellung 2027 (IGA 2027). The Urban Greenery department and the Westphalia and Lippe State Association of the Small Gardeners e.V. have transformed the area, led by landscape architect Professor Günther Vogt.
The redesign features a striking half-circle wall built from Ruhr sandstone. This wall serves as both a landscape design element and seating for visitors. It also forms the core of a 'Green Classroom', used for environmental education and events by the State Association of Small Gardeners and other interested parties.
New paths have been constructed, and two ecologically valuable habitats have been created: a dry grassland area and a wet meadow. These additions aim to enhance biodiversity and provide spaces for visitors to enjoy nature.
The revamped 'Alte Ziegelei' park complex is set to welcome visitors for the IGA 2027. The sandstone wall, new paths, and ecological habitats are expected to enrich the park experience, offering both aesthetic appeal and educational opportunities.
