Thuringia, the eastern German state, will host a plethora of activities for children on Children's Day, celebrated worldwide on June 1st. Here's a glimpse of some attractions and events planned in various cities and regions.

Water and FunIn the city of Jena, the GalaxSea leisure pool will host a children's festival, featuring an inflatable obstacle course with slides and climbing elements. At Bad Lobenstein's Ardesia Therme, children can expect a clown, a water slide, a fishing game, and more. The Erfurt zoo park will offer bouncy castles, archery, and a medieval camp, along with a lecture on an Arctic expedition involving whales and bears. Families visiting the Alternative Bear Park in Worbis can enjoy a free guided tour. The Tierpark Gotha will also feature face painting, craft activities, and a carousel.

Adventure and ExperiencesChildren up to the age of 14 can ride the mountain railway in the Schwarzatal for free by presenting their favorite cuddly toy, serving as a "teddy ticket" for the mountain railway, the flat track, and the Schwarzatal railway. The Possen leisure and recreation park near Sondershausen will offer puppet theater, a balloon artist, and more. In Erfurt's ega garden and leisure park, children can participate in sports activities and meet local clubs. There will also be a children's disco featuring singer-songwriter Volker Rosin.

Urban ExplorationGera will celebrate with a roller parkour, a flea market, and storytime on May 31st, followed by the Goldener Spatz children's media festival on June 1st. In Mühlhausen, the children's day program forms part of the Freedom Festival 1525, commemorating 500 years of the Peasants' War. The event offers puppet theater, weaving workshops, children's archery, and games with a medieval theme for little ones.

While Children's Day is celebrated internationally on June 1st, it is worth noting that World Children's Day is observed on a different date generally. In Thuringia, however, Universal Children's Day or a similar celebration might be associated with May 30th, 2025. For more specific activities, families are advised to check local event calendars or contact event organizers.

Families can take advantage of outdoor festivals, family-friendly events, community activities, and nature walks when celebrating Children's Day in Germany. These activities offer opportunities for quality family time and engagement.

The Commission, in a different sphere, has also adopted a proposal for a directive on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to the protection of workers from the risks related to exposure to ionizing radiation. As families enjoy a day of fun and learning at home, they might also consider the importance of safeguarding their health and lifestyle, including minimizing their exposure to harmful radiations while carrying out home-and-garden projects.
