Annual Arts Festival in Loveland Showcases Local Artist's Chalk Masterpieces to Commemorate 15 Years of Benefiting Community Causes
On September 13, the heart of Loveland, Colorado will be transformed into a vibrant canvas as the annual Pastels on 5th Street festival returns for its 15th anniversary. This community art event, presented by Dutch Bros Coffee, brings together more than 150 artists to create pastel and chalk masterpieces on the sidewalks, raising funds and awareness for Alternatives to Violence (ATV), a local nonprofit organisation that provides essential support to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking.
Amanda Gress, a renowned Loveland artist, will be participating in the festival and teaching art from her home studio. Her chalk masterpieces have become festival favourites, inspiring both artists and the community alike.
The festival offers a variety of engaging activities for all ages. Live street art created by local and visiting artists, family-friendly entertainment, and an artisan marketplace are just a few of the attractions that make Pastels on 5th Street a must-attend event.
In addition to the visual delights, the festival also features a juried competition and a People's Choice vote for the favourite artwork. Voting can be done online at pastelson5th.org/vote, with each vote costing $1, and the proceeds going directly to ATV.
The festival's purpose is to support ATV's mission by engaging the community, raising funds, and increasing visibility about the issues of violence and the services ATV provides, such as 24/7 crisis lines, safe housing, and advocacy.
This year's festival will also include live music performances by Dave Beegle, Side Effect, Wendy Woo & Girl Crush, and The Rhythm Allstars, ensuring a day filled with entertainment and art.
For the first time, Pastels on 5th tote bags featuring last year's winning artwork will be available for $25, with all proceeds supporting ATV. The festival takes place on 5th Street between Cleveland and Lincoln Avenues, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
If you're looking for a unique and meaningful way to spend your day, join the community of Loveland on September 13 for Pastels on 5th Street. Your support will help make a difference in the lives of those affected by violence in our community.
