The planned takeover of the Nagold Outdoor Pool by Pforzheim Utilities (PFAL) is moving forward, with renovation work currently underway to ensure the pool's continued operation and enhance its facilities.

In 2023, a sun sail was installed over the wading pool, following a proposal by the support association. This is part of the larger modernization effort aimed at improving the overall pool infrastructure and attracting more visitors.

Bernd Hagenbuch, a deputy and project manager at the municipal utilities, provided an update on the renovation progress. The initial assessment and variant testing are currently underway, with the goal of meeting current standards and visitor expectations.

The renovation work includes upgrades to water quality systems and amenities. The historic overall character of the pool will be preserved during the renovation process.

Following the pool renovation, renovations to the main building and the kiosk building will take place in the winter of 2024.

The annual general meeting of the Nagold Outdoor Pool Support Association Pforzheim took place on November 23, 2023. During the meeting, Joerg Mueller, the 1st chairman, and all other board positions were re-elected unanimously. Michael Zoll was also elected as a new member of the board, with a focus on representing the interests of families with young children.

The municipal utilities and planners will discuss the first planning concepts with representatives of the support association, the citizens' association, the DLRG, and the SSV Huchenfeld on December 19, 2023.

The swimming operation in the Nagold Outdoor Pool will continue to be run by the city in 2024. Georg Busch, the operator of the Pforzheim pool facilities, mentioned that the personnel situation had eased, and the opening hours at the Nagold Outdoor Pool had almost normalized compared to the previous year.

The final decisions regarding the transfer of the pool to the municipal utilities will be made by the city council on April 16, 2024. Clarifying the tax-exempt status of the supporting association and possibly updating the bylaws is necessary in the course of transferring the pool to the municipal utilities.

Dr. Hans-Ulrich Rülke, chairman of the FDP group in the city council and a member of the support association, expressed optimism about the transfer of the pool to the utilities. Mayor Dirk Büscher gave a positive overview of all the ongoing pool projects in the city.

Gabriel Jivanov, the new kiosk operator, proved to be a lucky find for the pool and catered to the attendees of the annual general meeting.

The anticipated reopening date is targeted for the upcoming summer season, with expectations for the pool to be fully operational again by mid-2025. However, this timeline can be subject to changes based on the progress of construction and any unforeseen delays.

For the most precise and recent updates, it is advisable to check official announcements from Pforzheim Utilities or the Nagold municipal authorities closer to the planned reopening period. Jörg Müller, the chairman of the support association, thanked the city representatives for a "wonderful summer" at the Nagold Outdoor Pool. He also expressed confidence that the municipal utilities will be able to rely on the potential of the supporting association and its commitment for the common good in the future.

The renovation of the Nagold Outdoor Pool is not limited to the pool area; plans also include upgrades to the home-and-garden setting, as the support association considers the addition of flowers and greenery to enhance the overall lifestyle ambience.

Following the construction of the pool's modernized facilities and the regeneration of the main building, sports enthusiasts may expect expanded activities and amenities, such as a multipurpose sports court or a fitness area, which will draw more visitors and foster a more active community lifestyle.
