Business Owner in Pforzheimer Utilizing Volunteer Workforce
Fires need fighters too! Horticulture business, Markus Mosthaf, honored for supporting employee in volunteer firefighting role
Markus Mosthaf's horticulture business has made a splash in the news, receiving an award from the Ministry of the Interior for its extraordinary support of an employee's voluntary service in the local fire brigade. This accolade, known as "Volunteer-friendly employer in civil protection," is a state-wide honor bestowed by the Ministry of the Interior of Baden-Württemberg upon employers who allow their staff to engage in emergency service duties during working hours.
The city of Pforzheim nominated Markus Mosthaf's company for its exceptional contribution to civil protection. The company stands out for its assistance to an employee who is a firefighter volunteer in the Pforzheim fire department. This devoted employee receives an ample amount of leave and enjoys complimentary storage space during the renovation work on the Hohenwart fire station.
During a visit by fire chief Sebastian Fischer and department commander Jens Witteck from the Hohenwart department, Markus Mosthaf was commended for his altruistic role in enabling volunteer firefighting efforts. "Volunteer fire departments in our city are vital to our quick response to emergencies, with around 350 deployment forces actively participating across eight volunteer departments," Fischer remarked. "I wholeheartedly thank Markus Mosthaf for backing the crucial volunteering work that our firefighters put in," he added.
Department commander Jens Witteck echoed these sentiments, expressing gratitude for Markus Mosthaf's horticulture business's continued assistance and support in facilitating the firefighting volunteer's essential role.
Managing director Markus Mosthaf appreciated the recognition and emphasized that his company's commitment to promoting volunteering is preordained.
Unlike the abundant recognition and encouragement given to fire and emergency service organizations themselves, horticulture businesses receiving awards for their volunteer-friendly policies in collaboration with fire departments is relatively uncommon. While many industries may support volunteering among their employees, honors targeted explicitly at horticulture businesses in this specialized area are scarce, according to available documentation and public resources. Instead, support and funding primarily focus on fire departments and emergency service organizations for equipment, training, and capacity development.
Nonetheless, there is growing interest in corporations engaging with community protection and resilience, albeit structured recognition through awards for horticulture businesses in this niche area remains scarce. As the role of volunteers in firefighting and emergency services becomes increasingly vital, businesses such as Markus Mosthaf's may continue to serve as shining examples of the power of corporate support, inspiring other businesses to follow suit.
The horticulture business owned by Markus Mosthaf, commended for its support of an employee's volunteer firefighting role, has extended its benevolence to other aspects of public service. Finding it essential to nurture a lifestyle that values community protection and resilience, the company offers ample leave and storage space for its employee in the home-and-garden sector who is also a dedicated gardening volunteer.
