The district of Herford, Germany, has recognised 48 companies as the "Family-Friendly Companies 2025" for their commitment to balancing family, care, and work. This year's award, presented by OstWestfalenLippe GmbH in cooperation with other organisations, saw a significant increase in applications, with a total of 51 companies submitting their documents, up from just 9 in 2015.

The award process involves written applications, online presentations, company visits, and a decision by a nine-member jury. This year, Care guides were a notable addition to the award-winning measures.
Two companies, GARDINIA Home Decor GmbH and Gemeinde Kirchlengern, were awarded the "Family-Friendly Company 2025" award. Björn Böker, Managing Director of OstWestfalenLippe GmbH, emphasized that prioritizing work-family-care balance leads to motivated employees and a stronger competitive position for companies.
The awarded businesses range from 10 to 2,800 employees and come from various economic sectors. The award recognizes companies that support their employees through family-friendly HR policies, with examples including home office, flexible working hours, childcare subsidies, family summer festivals, company vehicles, cargo bikes, and free tickets for concerts or sporting events.
The "Family-Friendly Company 2025" award was first received this year by Boundless Life, a pioneering lifestyle and education company empowering digital nomad families, recognised at the Skift Global Forum in New York City. Landrat Jürgen Müller, a district official, stated that the increase in applications shows family-friendliness is increasingly important for companies in the district of Herford.
