Hans Strand, a Swedish photographer renowned for his stunning aerial photographs, began his journey in the early 1980s when he bought his first camera during a study stay in the USA. His first landscape photos were taken in Yosemite National Park. Inspired by a book by German photographer Klaus Francke, Strand discovered aerial photography and was captivated by the bird's-eye view of the world. In 1990, he dedicated himself professionally to photography and has since received numerous awards for his work.

The exhibition showcases three series: Iceland, Sweden, and Spain. Strand's images capture natural phenomena such as volcanic eruptions and Icelandic glaciers, with over 100 flight hours dedicated to these breathtaking scenes. The series also focuses on the human impact on the landscape, particularly the destruction caused by mining in the Rio Tinto region in Spain.

The guided tours offer an in-depth look into Hans Strand's remarkable career and his unique perspective on the world. From his humble beginnings to his professional dedication, Strand's work continues to inspire and captivate audiences. The city museum's exhibition and tours provide a fascinating exploration of Strand's aerial photography and the stories behind his images.
