Climate-Resilient Pond Farming: Carp Fishing Event in Landkreis Fuerth a Huge Success

Climate change is posing challenges to regional pond farming, necessitating constant vigilance and adaptation. Despite these hurdles, a recent carp fishing event in the Landkreis Fuerth demonstrated the power of cooperation and the benefits it brings to the environment, economy, and local identity.

The event, held opposite the Gasthof Seerose in Horbach, was a resounding success for local pond owners, regional cuisine, agriculture, and rural tourism. The initiative 'Good from the Fuerth Land' played a significant role in organizing this event, aiming to strengthen regional value chains while promoting ecological responsibility, agricultural know-how, and culinary enjoyment.

The pond in Langenzenn-Horbach was fished in collaboration with the local pond cooperative, showcasing the deep roots and ecological significance of pond farming in the Landkreis Fuerth, with over 200 pond owners managing their ponds jointly. Bavaria's commitment to protecting and promoting the Franconian carp as a regional cultural asset was evident, with Bavarian Minister-President Dr. Markus Söder participating in the fishing and tasting the freshly prepared carp specialties on-site. The Gasthof and Landhotel Seerose, a long-standing partner of regional agriculture, served the caught fish directly, highlighting the short supply chain and regional culinary delights.

The successful carp fishing event underscored the importance of cooperation and regional initiatives in addressing climate change challenges and promoting sustainable agriculture. It not only benefited the local economy and identity but also showcased the commitment to preserving the Franconian carp and supporting regional culinary traditions.
