Community-led Plant Swap Event: A Sustainable Exchange of Greenery

Swap Those Greens at Laboe Kurpark 🌿🍃

Join the inaugural Plant Swap Market in Laboe Kurpark happening on Saturday, May 10th! 🎉 This event is a golden opportunity for green thumbs and plant aficionados alike to share their love for green life. The venue is none other than the picturesque Kurpark at Katzbek street.

Here's a lowdown on how it all goes down:

📅 On Friday, May 9th, from 4 to 6 pm, the organizers invite you to donate surplus plants to the Kurpark hut, near the laughter theater at Katzbek entrance. Herbs, native flowering plants, and berry bushes are particularly welcome. 🌱🌺🍃

📅 On the big day, Saturday, don't miss out on acquiring your new green buddies between 10 am and 4 pm! The plants will be available for a suggested donation that goes directly to the "Friends of the Kurpark" association. 💹

The Plant Swap Market is poised to boost biodiversity by encouraging gardeners to lend a helping hand to Mother Nature. The IKL (Climate Protection Initiative Laboe) is all about biological climate protection, and private gardeners hold the key. In fact, Germany boasts 17 million gardens spanning a whopping 6,800 square kilometers – that's roughly the size of all nature reserves combined! 🌐

The event extends far beyond a simple plant exchange, offering a platform to learn about gardening best practices, environmental stewardship, and climate protection. 🌱🌏💚

Established in mid-2022, the IKL is a community of citizens determined to make Laboe eco-friendly. They welcome the input of various sectors, including trade, commerce, services, tourism, as well as local clubs and associations. Their mission is to co-create and support projects that help achieve not only local but international climate goals. 🌟

IKL currently boasts four working groups dedicated to mobility, energy, consumption, nutrition, native green spaces, and urban greening. For a deeper dive, visit their website: https://klimaschutz-laboe.de
