Contentment Regarding the Municipal Library
In a recent presentation to the Culture and City Partnerships Committee, SENTOBIB director Iris Schulz shared her findings from a survey conducted at the Nettetal city library. The survey aimed to understand the preferences and concerns of the library's patrons, particularly the target group aged 13 and above.
Schulz drew four main conclusions from the survey. First, she emphasised the need to promote offers and services to attract more users. Second, she suggested organising workshops for adults to engage them more effectively. Third, she highlighted the importance of strengthening the Kaldenkirchen location, ensuring it remains a welcoming and appealing space for all. Lastly, she recommended extending the library's opening hours to cater to the needs of its users.
The survey revealed that children find the city library "cozy" and "fun," but some non-customers cited reasons such as a preference for purchase over borrowing and opening hours that don't fit their schedules for not using the public library.
Interestingly, the surveyed patrons gave a thumbs-up for the library's accessibility, sufficient bicycle parking spaces, and the affordability of the membership fee. However, advertising should be particularly focused on E-books, as 85.25% of respondents preferred printed books due to the E-book offer being largely unknown.
Despite extensive research, no publicly available sources could provide specific information about measures taken or suggested to improve the public library in Lake City based on the study conducted from May to September 2024. It may be necessary to consult local government or library board records or directly contact the library or city administration for more details on the study's findings and proposed measures.
While other libraries in different counties and cities have received grants and upgrades, no such information is currently available for Lake City's public library. The American Library Association promotes leadership and improvements in libraries nationwide but does not offer Lake City-specific details.
In conclusion, SENTOBIB director Iris Schulz's survey findings provide valuable insights into the preferences and concerns of the Nettetal city library's patrons. However, for more detailed information about the proposed improvements or recommendations for Lake City's public library from the May-September 2024 study, further investigation may be required.
The home-and-garden lifestyle of the library, with its cozy and fun ambiance for children, was appreciated by the surveyed patrons. However, to attract more users and increase engagement, there is a need to focus advertising on E-books, as their current offer is largely unknown to library patrons.
