** off we go to Bochum's Bürgerwoche! From June 11th to June 17th, the city's eastern side transforms into a bustling hub of entertainment. Under the motto "Neighbors unite - we come together," the 46th edition of Bürgerwoche Bochum-Ost presents a smorgasbord of activities, planned by Bochum's Eastern District Council, Bochum Marketing, local clubs, institutions, and residents themselves.**
Kicking off at 3 pm on Wednesday, June 11th, in Laer is the festival on Lahariplatz. The lineup includes performances by Clowns Brothers (4:30 pm), Little John Band (6 pm), and Just 4 Fun (7 pm). Local acts such as the Kindertanzgruppe of OT Laer (4:30 pm) will also grace the stage. Robert Walkenhorst will host the event, with the official opening by District Mayor Dirk Meyer at 4 pm. Catering, local club and institution booths, and kid-friendly attractions will be available. With a sporty vibe in line with the 2025 Sports Year, you'll also find Open Days at Bella Seniorenresidenz Langendreer (2-5 pm) and Kita "Freche Kröten" (3-4 pm), as well as a photography exhibition by the Forum for Photography Bochum at the Langendreer Library (Unterstraße 71).
Head to Werne's market square on Thursday, June 12th, starting at 3 pm. The day begins with an Ecumenical service followed by performances from Bauchtanzensemble Nurah (4:30 pm), Everstaler Musikanten (5 pm), and Tweens, the twin brothers Manfred and Werner Wurst (7:30 pm). A Baseball team Barflies taster session can be enjoyed at Anemonenweg (5-8 pm), and the New Apostolic Church hosts a concert at Straße Zum Kühl 20 (7 pm).
On Friday, June 13th, embark on a morning tour of Nelson-Mandela-School at Stiftstraße 25 (8:30 to 10:30 am). Sunday, June 15th, welcomes the street festival "Benches Out!" organized by WAB Langendreer. The festival features Hanne's Weyland, Maykeva, JÄR!, Tender Gangsters, and Mondfunk, along with a family flea market at St. Marien's square, a raffle, and street performances. On this day, you can also visit the Skat tournament at VfB Langendreerholz at Hörder Street 135 or catch the home game of the baseball team Barflies at Anemonenweg at 3 PM.
Capping off the week is a family-friendly event in Volkspark Langendreer on Monday, June 16th, from 3 PM, featuring a mini-golf tournament, street soccer, baseball, creative workshops, magic shows, and dance performances.
