The city of Berlin is gearing up for the 37th edition of Tanz im August, a dance festival that will take place from August 13 to August 30, 2025. This year's festival promises a multiplicity of performances, workshops, and events across various venues, including the Haus der Berliner Festspiele, Radialsystem, and several unconventional spaces scattered across the city.

One of the highlights of this year's festival is the performance Trailer Park by Moritz Ostruschnjak. This high-octane dance performance interpolates internet culture, specifically TikTok, onto the mainstage in a collaborative effort involving tanzmainz, Sasha Weiss & Guests, and Radialsystem.

Another intriguing production is Some Thing Folk, a performance by Berlin-based artist Ligia Lewis in collaboration with the Swedish Cullberg company. Although the exact nature of this collaboration is not detailed, the performance seeks to imagine a world that transcends nation and tribalism, drawing inspiration from the Russian science fiction classic How to Be a God.

Brazil's Companhia de Danças offers a performance titled Borda, which reflects on borders, while the Korea National Contemporary Dance Company presents Kim Sungyong's Jungle, an environmentally-minded piece.

The festival's schedule is packed with daily events, workshops, and performances. For instance, Sophiensæle hosts several productions during the festival period, including part of the Berlin Biennale on August 16 from 11:00 to 19:00. Haus der Berliner Festspiele presents three productions starting around mid-August, and HAU1 hosts three public performances from August 22 to 24 in the evenings, part of the festival's featured program.

The festival's locations are diverse, with performances taking place at Alte Münze Berlin, HAU Hebbel am Ufer (HAU1, HAU2, HAU3), Haus der Berliner Festspiele, Radialsystem, Sophiensæle, St. Elisabeth-Kirche, Tempelhofer Feld, BBA Gallery, nGbK (workshops), and silent green Kulturquartier.

For complete, up-to-date schedules and tickets, visitors are encouraged to check the official Tanz im August website and associated Berlin festival sites for detailed daily programming. Despite the city's culture cuts and the world's upheaval, Tanz im August continues to stand out as a constant and reliable event in Berlin's cultural landscape.
