Detmold Joins 'GroundAir' Competition to Boost Sustainability and Greenery

Detmold has joined the 'GroundAir' competition, aiming to make the city greener and more sustainable. The initiative, organized by Provinzial, encourages citizens to transform sealed surfaces into green spaces, supporting urban climate and flood protection.

Mayor Frank Hilker stressed the goal of enhancing Detmold's livability and sustainability. The competition offers cash prizes and garden center vouchers as incentives. Participants can submit before-and-after photos of unsealed areas at bodenluft.net.

Detmold's city portal supports the action by providing recycling centers for worn-out stones at Hellsiek and Maibolte. In special cases, direct material pick-up from the city is possible upon consultation. The competition not only benefits the environment but also promotes community engagement.

By joining the 'GroundAir' competition, Detmold seeks to improve its urban climate and quality of life. Citizens are encouraged to participate, with rewards and support systems in place. The city's commitment to climate change mitigation is evident through this initiative.
