Discussion on Sustainable Development in Dublin City: Disseminating Thoughts for Durable Expansion

On Thursday, 24th September 2021, Architecture Today magazine is hosting a one-day event titled "Exploring sustainable growth, policy, and design innovation in Irish cities" at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, 36-38 Westland Row, Dublin 3.

This event, organized in association with Schüco, aims to bring together a carefully selected audience of around 60 architects, developers, clients, contractors, city leaders, and other stakeholders involved in shaping the future of Irish cities. The gathering will provide an opportunity to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing Irish cities.

The event will feature short presentations, discussions, city tours, and an evening drinks reception. Notable speakers confirmed for the event include Conor Sreenan, State Architect and Principal Architect of the Office of Public Works, Dr Carole Pollard, Co-editor of "Irish Cities in Crisis," and Andrew Clancy, Founding Director of Clancy Moore Architects.

Panellists for the event include Louise Cotter, Founding Director of Cotter & Naessens Architects, Tony Reddy, Founder of Reddy Architecture + Urbanism and the Academy of Urbanism, John Tuomey, Founding Director of O'Donnell + Tuomey Architects, Colin Mackay, Partner of Hawkins\Brown, and Stephen O'Malley, Founding Director & Chief Executive of CIVIC. Ali Grehan, Chair of the Irish Green Building Council, will also participate as a panellist.

Visits to specific buildings and master-planning projects will be part of the event, allowing attendees to learn lessons from these influential projects. Case studies on these projects will be presented during the event.

Networking with fellow professionals and stakeholders is possible at the event, offering an inside track on policies, strategies, and visions affecting construction and development on the island of Ireland.
