New Skate Park Opens in Klotzsche, Dresden

After years of anticipation, a new skate park has officially opened in Klotzsche, Dresden. This marks the first skate facility for the northern part of the city, and it's located on the outskirts of the former school grounds at Alexander-Herzen-Straße.

The skate park features the usual skate elements such as curbs, quarter pipes, walls, and volcanoes, designed to cater to both adults and children. The opening was celebrated with a showcase of skills, showcasing the excitement and eagerness of the local community.

The construction costs of the new skate park are estimated to be around half a million euros. The Klotzsche district contributed 73,300 euros to the project. The new skate park is situated near a new residential area on Binzer Weg, providing a convenient and accessible location for its primary users - children.

A soccer field for recreational sports is located at the entrance of the skate park, offering a multi-purpose space for the local community. Construction on the skate park began in December 2022.

Dresden now boasts a total of ten skate facilities across the city, with the new skate park at Binzer Weg joining the ranks. Other notable skateparks in Dresden include those at Columbusstraße (Löbtau) and Lingnerallee (Altstadt), as listed on the official Dresden city website.

In March 2024, the city of Dresden developed a Skate Concept, which includes an analysis of existing skateparks and plans for future development to accommodate the rising popularity of skating and roll sports in the city.

Here's a summary of the key features:

  • Location: Binzer Weg, Klotzsche
  • Target Users: Mainly children
  • Cost of New Skate Park: Not specified
  • Total Named Skateparks: At least three major skate facilities (Binzer Weg, Columbusstraße, Lingnerallee)

While the exact total number of all skate facilities in Dresden is not explicitly stated, these three named parks form part of the city's official skate infrastructure.

The new skate park in Klotzsche is a significant addition to Dresden's growing support for skate and roll sports, providing a fun and engaging space for local children to hone their skills and enjoy the sport.
