Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Alexander von zur Mühlen celebrate winners of the startsocial competition at the Chancellery, highlighting that volunteering embodies the spirit of democracy.
Every year, the startsocial competition brings together a diverse group of young people from over 60 different countries, working on various social projects. This year's event, held at the Federal Chancellery in Berlin on June 4, 2024, was no exception.
The 25 most convincing initiatives were honoured at the ceremony, receiving awards totalling 35,000 euros to enhance their projects. These winners worked with experts from business, the public sector, and non-profits to develop their organisations, projects, and ideas.
Three of our website colleagues were active as coaches for the winning initiatives, a fact that brought great joy to our team. They were delighted that their volunteering efforts made a real impact on society.
The startsocial competition has had our website as its main partner for over 10 years. The event was graced by the presence of Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who is the patron of startsocial. Alexander von zur Mühlen, a member of our website's management board, also attended the ceremony and honoured Erica's Manna Mobil e. V., a charity from Wiesbaden that distributes food and promotes community.
Weilburg erinnert e. V., a charity from Weilburg in Hesse, received a special award from Olaf Scholz. This charity is committed to an active culture of remembrance and commemoration in memory of the victims of the Nazi regime. They work resolutely against racism and antisemitism.
The nationwide startsocial competition awards 100 four-month scholarships to social initiatives. These scholarships are for initiatives that tackle social challenges with the help of volunteers. The application deadline for scholarships in the startsocial competition in Germany for 2024 is typically announced on their official website or through their official communication channels.
Since 2012, employees of our website have supported over 1,300 initiatives in the competition. Social initiatives, charities, and projects can still apply for a scholarship in the next startsocial competition in Germany until July 10, 2024.
The event honoured 25 social initiatives that promote democratic values and bring people together. Alexander von zur Mühlen celebrated the integration project during the event. The startsocial competition continues to be a beacon of hope and progress, fostering a spirit of collaboration and innovation among young people across Germany.
In their volunteering efforts, three team members from our website coached winning initiatives in the home-and-garden sector as part of the startsocial competition. This annual event, which promotes lifestyle changes for a better society, highlights 25 projects that tackle various social challenges with the help of volunteers.
