Supplies:
You'll need a few essential tools for this task:
- A snazzy Rhodia Blank Paper
- Tombow Mono Drawing Pen Size .03
- Tombow Fudenosuke Brush Pen
Rose Doodle:
The rose is my go-to flower, especially for weddings. And guess what? Creating one is easier than chewing a piece of gum! It's all about making squiggly circles. Start in the middle and draw an uneven bean shape, then add more of that same wonky circle around the center. Get as uneven as you can—uniformity isn't our friend here! Carry on adding circles until you've created a lovely circle-like shape.
Leaves:
Leave no leaf unturned! Begin by drawing an S-curve on both sides of your bud, then join them together at the top. Draw a line down the center, veering slightly off-center to create a rounded leaf shape. Then, add more diagonal lines connecting the center line to the S curves, working your way down to the bottom of the leaf.
Vines:
Vines are a breeze! Start with one long swoosh of a line—just don't make it too curvy, or it'll end up looking busy. Add a small leaf to the end of the line and then continue adding leaves along the line, making sure they're coming out in the same place on either side of the line. Give 'em some space at the bottom and don't forget to add those diagonal lines down the middle of the leaves to add some dimension.
Buds:
Buds are smaller versions of our fancy rose doodle. Start again by making that oh-so-popular bean shape, but add just a few more squiggly circles to create a smaller flower.
Fluffy Things:
These are my favorite doodle babies! I call 'em “fluffy things” because, well, they're fluffy like tiny puffs of cotton candy. They're similar to bud stems, but instead of drawing rose buds at the end, you create a bunch of tiny dots in a circle.
Composition:
Now the fun part! It's time to put together all our sweet little floral compadres to create a larger floral piece. Mix and match flowers, leaves, and vines to come up with various floral doodle arrangements—have fun, and see how many wonderfully quirky patterns you can create!
