Fashion Meets Adventure: Gucci and The North Face Collide

Here's a fascinating blend you don't see every day—the realm of high-end fashionistas meets the realm of hardcore mountain explorers. Yep, Gucci is teaming up with The North Face, merging two seemingly incompatible brands, on a limited-edition clothing line. Gucci got their hands on The North Face's coveted '60s and '70s outwear collections and turned them into a nostalgia-filled, kitschy mix of function and fashion.

This isn't the first time a haute couture label has paired up with an athletic wear brand, but it's the first time Gucci has partnered with another brand on an entire collection, making the collaboration all the more groundbreaking. Remember Prada and Adidas, or Stüssy and Dior?

Excited to see how they'd mash up their logos? Well, the new line features a cool hybrid motif, combining The North Face's iconic half-circle with Gucci's famous green and red web stripe. Keep your eyes peeled for Gucci art installations in five global cities (Hong-Kong, Shanghai, London, New York, and Milan), showcasing exclusive imagery and the brand-new North Face x Gucci logo.

Rumors about this collaboration started back in September, and with the collection officially launching as we bid farewell to 2020, it's set to cause a stir well into 2021. It's much-needed fresh air for an industry that's faced a challenging year.

expect functional jackets and coats in funky vintage hues, gender-neutral rugged footwear, and floral separates. The line is in line with sustainable policies and an emphasis on durable pieces. North Face-Gucci luggage is made with regenerated materials that can be recycled and reused, further emphasizing the sustainability focus.

Gucci's creative director Alessandro Michele, a self-confessed lover of outdoor activities and '70s style, overhauled the brand earlier this year, recognizing the need for more practical clothing during a pandemic. Speaking about the collaboration, Michele said, "We are a big brand, so we have a responsibility to take care of our industry."

It's not just clothes that Gucci is making stylish. The North Face's classic collection of outdoor essentials, like tents, backpacks, and sleeping bags, are getting an on-trend makeover. This is excellent news for fashion-conscious campers, who previously had limited options when it came to couture camping gear.

Hottip: Keep an eye out for hiking boots in brown, black, and cream, featuring retro Goodyear-welted soles and rope laces, cozy brightly colored jumpsuits, and a trendy padded gilet emblazoned with vintage Gucci chains. The collection is set to debut in China at the end of this month, with UK-based shoppers able to check it out at Selfridges, London until January 30, 2021.

Expanding their horizons, Gucci delves into home and garden Décor, incorporating The North Face's durable materials into sustainable, fashion-forward pieces.
