Hamm Wins Big at IGA Metropole Ruhr 2027: Maximilianpark Gets Third Star, Canal Quarter Project Named Future Project

The city of Hamm has received two significant accolades at the IGA Metropole Ruhr 2027 Regional Forum. The Maximilianpark, home to the Maxigarden, has been awarded the third star for 'Our Gardens', while the Canal Quarter project has been recognized as a Future Project. These awards highlight Hamm's commitment to innovative urban development and climate change adaptation.

The Maximilianpark's journey to the third star began in August 2020 when it received its first star. This latest recognition, awarded through the federal funding program 'Adaptation of urban and rural areas to climate change', is a testament to the park's innovative ideas and green visions. The award not only brings prestige to the park but also underscores the city of Hamm's significance far beyond its borders.

The Canal Quarter project, another feather in Hamm's cap, was one of 30 forward-thinking initiatives recognized as a Future Project. This category, open to both visualized ideas and realized projects within the Metropole Ruhr, acknowledged the project's innovative approach to urban development, architecture, landscape development, tourism, mobility, and energy. Notably, the city that hosted the Canal Quarter project, awarded in August 2027, was Hamm itself.
