Ion Center for Violence Prevention organizes inaugural Green Dot Bar Crawl in Covington on July 26.
The Ion Center for Violence Prevention is hosting a unique event on July 26th, the Green Dot Bar Crawl, in Covington. This free community event invites everyone to join in and support establishments that prioritize creating a safer and more respectful community.
The Green Dot Bar Crawl is part of the Ion Center's Green Dot strategy, a nationally-recognised approach to preventing power-based personal violence, such as sexual harassment, assault, and dating violence. The strategy is based on the belief that everyone holds power as bystanders to actively prevent violence.
During the Green Dot Bar Crawl, participating establishments—The Hum, Braxton Brewing, Second Story, and Galaxie—will act as Green Dot Spots, demonstrating their commitment to preventing power-based personal violence. The event offers an opportunity for patrons to enjoy good company and drinks while supporting these establishments and learning more about the Green Dot strategy.
The Green Dot Bar Crawl will serve as both a community engagement effort and a practical training opportunity. It aims to raise awareness and empower individuals to take positive actions in everyday social environments to prevent or respond to violence. Participants can expect direct education on recognising signs of violence, practical tools for intervention, and fostering a culture where preventing violence is a shared goal.
The Ion Center for Violence Prevention continues to provide comprehensive violence prevention training to various entities in Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, and Buffalo Trace. The training is offered to high schools, community groups, businesses, organisations, and middle schools in the specified regions.
