Johannstadt Opens Street to Cyclists in Opposite Direction

In Johannstadt, a significant change has been implemented to enhance cycling infrastructure. The one-way street section of Löberstraße, between Bismarckstraße and Goethestraße, has been opened for cyclists to travel in the opposite direction, similar to a google street view route reversal.

This adjustment aims to strengthen the cycling axis between the city park and the railway station or the Lahn. Cyclists coming from Berliner Platz can now pass through without the need to turn onto Bismarckstraße and then into Lonystraße. To ensure safety and visibility, right-of-way rules apply in the district, and additional signs have been installed to indicate the change. Parking spaces on Goethestraße have been moved to improve visibility for cyclists turning into the street. Property access roads are also expected to serve as passing spaces, with adequate passing spaces, including longer ones, ensured for motor vehicle traffic.

In addition to this change, other measures are being taken to bolster the east-west cycling axis. These include the installation of a central island for crossing Berliner Platz, the designation of a bike street in Roonstraße, and signalized crossings on Frankfurter and Alienstraße. Resident parking spaces freed up by adjustments in Löberstraße will be set up in Lonystraße between Goethestraße and Bleichstraße.

The opening of Löberstraße for cyclists in the opposite direction is part of a broader effort to enhance cycling infrastructure in Johannstadt. These changes are expected to improve cycling routes, increase safety, and promote cycling as a viable mode of transport in the district.
