keeping children secure and amused during long car journeys is of significance for parents
Mazda's CX-90: A Family-Friendly SUV with Top Safety Features
In a recent study by Mazda, child safety in the event of an accident emerged as the top concern for parents, with 55% of respondents ranking it as their number-one worry. To address this concern, the redesigned CX-90 from Mazda offers a family SUV that combines spacious comfort with cutting-edge safety and connectivity features.
The CX-90 is equipped with the i-Activsense suite of advanced driver-assistance systems, which include automatic emergency braking and traffic-sensing technologies. This suite is designed to help parents stay focused on their family by offering heightened safety and awareness on the road, as stated by Jennifer Morrison, Mazda North America's head of vehicle safety.
Some key safety features of the CX-90 include Dynamic Stability Control, Electronic Stability Control, and Roll Stability Control for enhanced vehicle stability during maneuvers and emergency situations. The Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Driveline Traction Control improve braking performance and traction on different surfaces.
The CX-90 is also equipped with multiple airbags, including dual-stage front airbags, seat-mounted side airbags, curtain airbags covering all three rows, and driver and passenger knee airbags. Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Traffic Alert is also included, alerting drivers of vehicles in blind spots and when backing out of parking spaces.
Lane Keep Assist with Road Departure Prevention and Lane Departure Warning help maintain safe lane positioning, while Smart Brake Support (SBS), Collision Mitigation-Front, and Rear Smart Brake Support (R-SBS) provide automatic braking assistance to avoid or mitigate potential collisions.
Front and Rear Parking Sensors, a 360-Degree View Camera System with multiple cameras (front, rear, left, right), and a Driver Monitoring System to detect driver alertness and reduce the risk of inattentive driving are also standard features in the CX-90.
Tech-savvy safety features have become more appealing to parents due to this concern, with 58% of parents in Mazda's survey naming smartphone connectivity like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as must-haves. The CX-90 comes with essential tech features like smartphone connectivity, USB ports, and Wi-Fi hotspots. Wi-Fi hotspots were desired by 33% of parents in Mazda's survey, while USB ports were named as a must-have by 54% of parents.
Comfortable three-row seating and ample storage for families are also offered by the CX-90. Mazda's i-Activ AWD technology, standard in the CX-90, provides all-weather confidence by continuously adjusting power distribution to maintain optimal traction.
The CX-90 has received 6 2024 IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+ awards, demonstrating its commitment to safety. Nearly half (47%) of parents now lean toward vehicles with the highest safety ratings post-kids. The second-highest concern in the survey was the unpredictability of the road, with 43% of parents ranking external conditions as a major worry.
Mazda offers a complete lineup of vehicles tailored to different needs, including the compact CX-5, the adventurous CX-50, and the stylish CX-70. The CX-90's top safety features make it a preferred choice among parents prioritizing safety, occupant protection, and driver aid technologies in a family SUV.
