Landshut Residents Can Now Order Fruit Trees for Biodiversity Boost
Landshut residents can now order fruit trees online or by phone as part of the 'Streuobst für alle' program, a part of the Bavarian Streuobst package. The action, carried out by the city's environmental department, aims to boost biodiversity and adapt to climate change. Orders can be placed until October 10, depending on availability.
The fruit trees available include apples, pears, plums, cherries, sour cherries, walnut, and speierling. They are standard trees with a trunk height of 1.40 to 1.80 meters and require a space of ten by ten meters. Property owners can receive up to three trees for €10 each, with the city providing a subsidy. The trees will be delivered as bare-root plants in November and should be planted immediately upon pickup.
The 'Streuobst für alle' program is part of the Bavarian Streuobst package. It not only provides fresh fruit but also creates habitats for rare and endangered animal species. As the trees age, they become more valuable. For questions, contact the department for environmental, climate, and nature protection at 0871/881600 or via email at naturschutz@ourwebsite.
By ordering fruit trees through this program, Landshut residents are contributing to the city's biodiversity and climate change adaptation efforts. The trees provide habitat for wildlife, produce fresh fruit, and become more valuable over time. The city's environmental department is responsible for the action and can provide further information.
