Saying Farewell to the Kupferkanne
Local copper can factory shuts down - Lujanovic family bids farewell
With more than five decades of culinary tradition under its belt, the Kupferkanne restaurant in Robert-Stolz-Straße shut its doors at the end of May. The Lujanovic family, who took over the establishment in 2017, have offered their heartfelt gratitude and fond reminiscing to the patrons that graced their tables over the years. The property owner intends to transform the location into a new development, making way for barrier-free apartments in the future.
The Heart of Connection
Ivanka Lujanovic, proprietor of the restaurant, expressed her thanks to the property owners and countless guests for making their tenure such a pleasurable experience. The Lujanovic family had expanded the restaurant and turned it into a beloved meeting place. Before joining forces, Slaven Lujanovic had honed his skills as a chef in Offenbach, delighting customers with Croatian delicacies such as Pljeskavica and Raznjici, along with fish dishes and German classics.
A Venue for Moments Worth Remembering
The Kupferkanne was a go-to destination for family gatherings, business meals, and special occasions for the past few decades. The restaurant could comfortably accommodate up to 110 patrons in its cozy rooms. International delegations were regular visitors, as well. In remembrance, Mayor Manuel Friedrich shared a cherished memory of hosting official delegations from partner cities Meiningen and Laakirchen during the European festival in the Kupferkanne, which had become a beloved tradition. He lamented the restaurant's closure:
The Future: Habitation Instead of Gastronomy
The property is earmarked for redevelopment and no further gastronomic ventures are planned. Instead, the owner, alongside K&M Capital Immobilien GmbH, are opting for a change of use, resulting in the creation of additional barrier-free living spaces, in addition to the existing apartments. The on-site hairdressing salon will continue to operate.
The Lujanovic family will be relocating to Riedstadt, where they will be setting down roots, as their 13-year-old son already attends school there. Mayor Friedrich offered a warm farewell and best wishes to the family.
