Mill Day: Baking of Bread in Lübs and Storkow Occurs

Get ready for an adventure this Whit Monday as 25 ancient mills, fueled by wind, water, or engines, throw open their doors in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern! Don't miss the motor mill in Lübs and the post mill in Storkow, as announced by the Mill Association M-V.

Exploring the Motor Mill in Lübs

The motor mill in Lübs is the only one open on Mill Day. This historical beauty, built in 1899 and boasting mostly original technology, welcomes visitors from 11 am to 4 pm. Be prepared to be wowed by the local culinary delights on offer, including bread fresh out of a wood-fired oven, coffee, and cake, all provided by the Lübser Mill Friends.

Mayor Ossip Storm has also announced an exhibition on the Winds of Change, showcasing the history of wind power. This exhibition celebrates Lübs' past as a community with a windmill, shedding light on the evolution of windmills, from grinding grain to the modern wind turbines that generate electricity.

Entertainment in Storkow

At the post mill in Storkow near Penkun, visitors can enjoy mill tours along with some musical entertainment. At noon, Schalmeienkapelle Penkun will serenade the crowd. A church service with Pastor Daria Skudlinska is planned for 2 pm. Talented musicians from the Uecker-Randow district music school will perform at 3 pm.

The association has prepared a variety of activities, including competitions, archery, and a colorful market. Visitors will feast on delicious options such as bread baked in the mill oven, smoked fish, pea soup, sausages, and cake.

Kick-off in Woldegk

  • Museum Mill/Mill Ensemble Woldegk, 11 am: The event kicks off with an exhibition on the history of wind power. This will be followed by a festival featuring a school choir, Schalmeien, fun, and a magic show with Clown Klecks and Silvio, special guest Olaf Berger, and a market street.
  • Swedish Mill Anklam, 11 am - 5 pm: The 1726-built Dutch windmill opens its doors from 11 am. From 2 pm, an afternoon program filled with live music, coffee, and cake will be offered. The mill can be found at Greifswalder Straße 8.
