In the heart of Austria, the Musical Summer Amstetten is hosting a highly anticipated production this year - "Augustin - the Musical." Thomas Kahry and Christoph Weyers have adapted the story for the stage, with Alex Balga directing.

Based on a radio play and featuring hits by Wolfgang Ambros, the musical promises an immersive experience filled with elements of drinking, laughing, singing, dancing, crying, and even dying.

At the centre of the story is Augustin, portrayed by Vincent Bueno. Augustin is in love with Corinna, the daughter of the mayor, who initially views him negatively. His friends Rudi, played by Matthias Trattner, and Schab den Rüssel, Simon Stockinger, are always by his side, providing a strong support system.

The musical portrays the tumultuous journey of Augustin's persistence in his love for Corinna, set against a backdrop of bursting boils of the dead and horrible cruelties. Yet, the love between Augustin and Corinna remains unaffected, serving as a beacon of hope amidst the darkness.

The musical includes a cast of talented actors, including Hannah Severin as Corinna, Alexandra Frankl as Frau Tepser, Franz Frickel as Bürgermeister Tepser, Carin Filipcic as Death and Kolschitzky, Markus Schöttl as Prinz Eugen/Pestknecht, Martin Pasching as Graf Starhemberg/Pestknecht, Lilly Rottensteiner as Witwe Mehlwurm, and Manuel Ernst as Puffan.

The musical takes place in Vienna, specifically at the Kaffeehaus Kolschitzky. The mood of the musical takes a turn for the worse, descending into a pest pit. However, love eventually triumphs, making for a compelling and emotional narrative.

The musical includes popular songs like "Darkness", "Central Cemetery", "life" ("Hanging Bridge"), and "black Afghan." The performances will continue until August 10. For more information and to secure your tickets, visit https://www.avb.am/avb-musical-sommer-2025.
