"New Accommodation Option: Wiesn-Wirt Establishes a Pub on Munich's Outskirts"
Pub Reopening in Aschheim: Gasthof zur Post Under New Management
A festive atmosphere pervaded Aschheim as the Augustiner brewery team gathered in front of Hotel and Gasthof zur Post. Ottokar "Otto" Lindinger, Oktoberfest host, marks the reopening of the establishment, aiming to make it a social hub for the community.
The Gasthof zur Post, a traditional inn north-east of Munich with over a century and a half of history, has reemerged with a fresh look following a half-million euro renovation. The refurbished inn now boasts newly painted walls, refurbished wooden paneling, upgraded lighting, and new tables, all installed within five weeks.
Otto Lindinger, who took over the establishment from his mother Anneliese Lindinger in the 2010s, considers his decision to revive the inn as a return to its roots. Lindinger believes this concept will not only retain the inn's loyal patrons but also attract a younger demographic, proclaiming a revival of the "regular's table."
The new menu at Gasthof zur Post now emphasizes Bavarian inn cuisine, with dishes including roast pork, onion roast beef, and a vegan celery goulash. Beers from Augustiner now flow from the taps, while wheat beer will continue to be sourced from Franziskaner.
As the bustle of Oktoberfest preparations takes hold, Lindinger views the Wiesn as a balancing force in his life. The inn functions well without him during the festivities.
"The Postwirt has always been a place to arrive - now it's a place to stay," Anneliese Lindinger praises her son's efforts. The hope remains that village inns, like Gasthof zur Post, will continue to serve as pillars of community life.
- With the reopening of Gasthof zur Post, Otto Lindinger aims to transform it into a community social hub, making it a destination for not just food and drink, but also for lifestyle, fashion-and-beauty, and home-and-garden enthusiasts.
- As Gasthof zur Post evolves, it continues to focus on traditional Bavarian cuisine, offering dishes like roast pork and onion roast beef, and even introducing a vegan celery goulash, demonstrating a fusion of old and new in both food and lifestyle.
- In the future, Lindinger envisions Gasthof zur Post as a gathering spot where patrons can enjoy delicious food, unwind, and engage in discussions about various topics, from cooking and home gardening, to fashion and beauty, making it a true hub of community life.
