"New Cycleway Network in Geyser Region Bodes Well"

The city of Geisa is set to embark on an ambitious cycling infrastructure project, aimed at promoting sustainable and environmentally friendly mobility. The project, dubbed "Cycling Infrastructure in the Geisa Region", was inaugurated by Geisa's Mayor Manuela Henkel earlier this year.

The construction company TSI is responsible for the first two sections of the route, with the Wiesenfeld-Geismar route and an approximately four-kilometer expansion from Bremen via Geblar and Otzbach set to begin this year. The planning office TTB Werra is involved in the project.

The project is expected to create a cycling network of approximately 30 kilometers, connecting the villages to the central city and neighbouring municipalities of Buttlar, Schleid, and Gerstengrund. The goal is to provide safe and well-developed cycling paths for comfortable and safe travel for work, school, or leisure activities.

The long-awaited grant decision was received at the beginning of the year, allowing construction to begin promptly. In addition to the cycling paths, eight cycle parking facilities with three racks each, and four electric charging stations will be created.

However, the construction costs had initially risen to 5.3 million euros due to delays, but were reduced to 4.7 million euros through various adjustments and cuts by the city. The city of Geisa will spend about 1.6 million euros of its own funds at the currently planned costs of 4.7 million euros.

The expansion of the cycling network is expected to increase safety and enhance the attractiveness of the region for cyclists, potentially benefiting sustainable tourism. The project aligns with the city's commitment to reducing carbon emissions and promoting a greener city.

The mayor expressed gratitude to all those involved and wished the construction project speed and success. Despite uncertainty about funding due to a federal budget freeze, the city council decided to continue with the project, demonstrating their commitment to the project's objectives.

For the most accurate and current details, including specific budget and timeline information, we recommend consulting local government sources such as the municipal offices of Geisa or regional planning departments, which typically oversee and publish infrastructure project plans and funding allocations.

The city of Geisa, in collaboration with TSI and TTB Werra, plans to establish a sustainable lifestyle by enhancing their home-and-garden, through the expansion of a 30-kilometer cycling network that supports sustainable-living. The project will also incorporate eight cycle parking facilities and four electric charging stations, encouraging eco-friendly travel for both leisure and work.
