Brewing Up Some Fun: Dresden's AdlerNest, aka Horst, Is Ready to Rock

Get ready, folks! This Friday, the coolest new hangout spot in town, AdlerNest (or Horst, as we'll call it from now on), is finally opening its doors. Don't worry, it's not some political rally by the Neustädter FDP's Horst. Instead, Horst is the location of our favourite feathered friend, the Secretary (Sagittarius serpentarius), which adorns the Four-Bird Pils' coat of arms.

The lads behind Four-Bird Pils, these six beer geniuses, have found a new permanent home in Dresden. This spot? You'll find it on Louisenstraße, opposite the Rothenburger, where Nizam's ice cream and coffee stand once thrived. So, settle in for some brews, shandies, and the occasional underground party in the basement.

Georg Bauerfeind, co-inventor of the Four-Bird Pils, takes us on a tour of the premises. The guys have poured blood, sweat, and beers into making the place shine. "Most of it, we did ourselves," Georg boasts, as Andre Winkelmann continues to seal silicone into the cracks. It might not look it yet, but by Friday evening, everything should be good to go.

Upstairs, the ground floor will serve as a beer bar, open only in the evenings. As Georg leads the way down the spiral staircase to the old vault, his enthusiasm is palpable. Here, cultural events are on the cards – think electronic music, singer-songwriters, or art exhibitions. The venue is also available for rent for bigger shindigs.

Apart from the signature Four-Bird Pils and the Ka-Radler (beer with lemonade), a selection of other craft beers in bottles will be available. It's fitting that Stefan Voigt, of Görlitzer Straße's Tap House fame, is also on board. The partnership ensures that gastronomic needs will be well taken care of while the Four-Bird Pils crew continues to focus on the cultural program.

Rumours about the origins of Four-Bird Pils have it that this delicious brew was concocted in 2012, in Bucaramanga, Colombia, by a group of Dresden tourists. They experimented with their recipe in a local brewery, and upon their return home, converted a washing machine into a brewing apparatus and continued the experiments. When the washing machine setup proved insufficient, they found a brewery in Hartmannsdorf. Now, Four-Bird Pils is more readily available and can be purchased in select shops. And by Friday, you'll be able to find it in bucketloads at Horst. Cheers!

Food-and-drink aficionados are in for a treat as the new home of Four-Bird Pils, AdlerNest, will offer an array of craft beers, including their signature brew and Ka-Radler. With the partnership with Stefan Voigt from Tap House, gastronomic needs will be well catered for at this unique home-and-garden blend featuring cultural events and artistic exhibitions.
