Over 140 Kids Win Prizes in 'Duisburg Learns to Swim' Art Contest
Over 140 young artists participated in the 'Duisburg learns to swim' painting competition, with ten talented children winning prizes. The main winner received the 'Golden Swimming Pool Ticket', offering a year of free municipal pool entry and swimming badge opportunities. The competition, open to children up to twelve years old, aimed to promote swimming skills and safety in Duisburger baths.
The Sparkasse Duisburg evaluated the creative entries, showcasing the ten swimming rules for children. Marcel Groß, CEO of the Sparkasse Duisburg sports foundation, praised the number and creativity of the submissions. The winners were honoured at the Rhein-Ruhr-Bad, with the main prize winner receiving the 'Golden Swimming Pool Ticket'.
Sören Link, Oberbürgermeister of Duisburg, supports the initiative. He believes swimming is a crucial life-saving skill that every child in Duisburg should learn. Over 1000 children have already enrolled in the first two course series, aiming for the seahorse badge. Marc Rüdesheim, deputy manager of DuisburgSport, noted that the project reaches around 20 percent of a primary school graduating class, offering them a free opportunity to learn to swim.
The 'Duisburg learns to swim' painting competition successfully engaged children in learning about swimming safety. The winners' creative pictures will be displayed in Duisburger baths, promoting the ten swimming rules. With over 1000 children enrolled in swimming courses, the project continues to make a significant impact on water safety in Duisburg.
