Meanwhile, another buzz stirs within the Costco community - a less appealing one. The wholesale giant has introduced a new food court offering: the "Combo Calzone." But, alas, it seems some customers can't stomach the newcomer.
The Combo Calzone: A Pizza In Disguise?
Priced at $6.99, the stuffed calzone boasts pepperoni, sausage, cheese, onions, peppers, olives, and mushrooms, reminiscent of the beloved combo pizza. Yet, the relief doesn't seem to reach the hearts of all Costco members.
Reddit Roasts the "Combo Calzone"
Members on Reddit have voiced their disdain for the calzone concoction. "It's the combo pizza!" cried one user, while another quipped, "We kept asking for it, and it looks like they folded."
One Reddit user tried it at a Lansing, Michigan, store, labeling it "all right." They described it as "a big slice folded on itself" that was "a little overcooked," but "maybe it was just my location."
Costco's Combo Calzone: Not a Winning Formula
"It seems like Costco will do anything but bring back the combo pizza," wrote one frustrated customer on Reddit.
Some users found the promotional pictures of the new calzone unappetizing, arguing that it even looks overcooked in the photo. "Does it even have cheese?!" questioned one user.
A Mixed Bag of Opinions
Not everyone was slamming the calzone, however. One user claimed, "Had one today, it was delicious!"
In early 2024, Costco discontinued the popular churro, while January 2023 saw the announcement of replacing Pepsi products with Coca-Cola fountain drinks later that year[5][6]. But it seems the Combo Calzone's quality leaves much to be desired compared to these favorites.
