The View Restaurant and Lounge Reopens After Renovation

The View Restaurant and Lounge, located atop the New York Marriott Marquis hotel at 1535 Broadway, New York, NY 10036, has reopened its doors following a comprehensive renovation by Rockwell Group. The two-level rotating venue offers dense skyline views and a unique dining experience.

The main bar on the 48th floor features a theatrical backdrop with dramatically illuminated skyscraper-esque volumes. The design incorporates nods to Art Deco architecture, with bottle shelves at the base and an oversized cast bronze pendant resembling a globe. Burl wood, iridescent Venetian plaster, faceted antique mirrors, and richly textured velvet blue drapery are used throughout, creating a luxurious ambiance.

The design scheme also includes a juxtaposition of metallic and matte finishes that hint at the entropic choreography of the city below. Concentric circles on the ceiling and discreet barriers demark the movement of the circular floors. The renovation aimed to frame the ever-changing vistas with minimal obstruction, achieved through tiered spinning platforms.

The dining room on the 47th floor offers a similar aesthetic, with sloped staircases, elevator bays, and various murals adding to the overall atmosphere. The renovation was a collaboration between Rockwell Group's restaurant and scenography divisions.

The menu at The View Restaurant and Lounge takes inspiration from American supper clubs and chop houses of a bygone era. Tuna Carpaccio and Seared Duck Breast dishes are available, meticulously curated by Executive Chef Marjorie Meek-Bradley. Jubilee Sundae and Classic New York Cheesecake desserts are offered to round off the dining experience.

The reopening of The View Restaurant and Lounge is seen as a change in perception for Times Square, being a block away from the overrun tourist trap. The collaboration between Union Square Hospitality Group, Marriott, and Rockwell Group has breathed new life into this iconic New York establishment.
