Senior citizens taking a spin around Krakow's lake for the beginning of the "Age-less Riding" season

Head out for a revitalizing ride with the elderly - that's what the "Cycling without Age" club in Krakow am See aims to do. On May 3rd, these enthusiasts will set the wheels in motion for a memorable season kickoff event.

Gear up for some fun rides

Frequently, our older counterparts or those with mobility issues struggle to venture far and for extended periods in nature. "Cycling without Age" addresses this predicament with the acquisition of two rickshaws, funded by generous donations. Drivers pedal while passengers soak in the surroundings, all thanks to an electric power boost.

Aside from regular outings at senior residences, "Cycling without Age" is open to private bookings too. As association member, Sabine vom Bruch, explains: "All you gotta do is give us a call, set a date, and voilà – off you go!"

Take a test spin on May 3rd

Visitors can sample the delights of "Cycling without Age" on May 3rd, from 2 to 5 pm, at the lake promenade. Not only is this the season opener, but it's also a perfect chance to join the team as a driver or a supporting member. As von Bruch states, "All our members are volunteers, passionate about this mission."

She shares a heartwarming story: "For those who can't explore the world on foot, a wind-in-the-hair ride in a rickshaw just makes their day. And it's pretty rewarding for the driver, too, knowing they've helped create that moment!"

Solar power keeps the wheels turning

The association has been in action since September 2020, boasting 19 members. A shelter houses the vehicles and shields them from the elements. Solar panels and a storage unit have been installed on the roof to optimize electric bike charging.

To arrange a ride, simply email [email protected] or dial association member Kurt Höffgen at 01776511116.
