Students from the Sverdlovsk region volunteered to enhance the park known as "Oleniy Ruch'y"
Volunteer Efforts Renovate and Maintain Olenye Ruchyi Natural Park
In a recent initiative, volunteers from Severouralsk have lent their efforts to the cleanup and restoration of the Kalinsky reservoir within the Olenye Ruchyi Natural Park. This picturesque park, one of the most visited specially protected natural territories in Sverdlovsk region, attracts over 100 thousand tourists annually.
The volunteers' tasks ranged from treating boards and reinforcing wooden paths on the Small Circle, to updating and painting elements of the tourist routes, and repairing the "Eger" cordon to ensure visitors feel comfortable and safe. Despite no specific information being provided about the identity or number of the volunteers involved, their hard work has been recognised by both the park's director, Nikolai Kalinin, and the Governor of Sverdlovsk region, Denis Pasler.
The Governor highlighted that the tourist infrastructure is developing in the Middle Urals for the comfortable travel of guests and residents of the region. Last year, the tourist flow to Sverdlovsk region exceeded 3 million people, and the renovated trails in Olenye Ruchyi are expected to attract more eco-tourists, contributing to local economies while maintaining ecological balance.
The work carried out by the volunteers is part of the broader national initiative called the "Ecological Well-being" project. This state-level initiative aims to improve environmental conditions across Russia, supporting biodiversity conservation, environmental education, waste management improvements, and the enhancement of natural recreational areas.
Within protected areas like Olenye Ruchyi, the project funds the development of eco-tourism infrastructure, including trail systems, visitor centers, and educational materials intended to promote sustainable tourism and environmental stewardship. The project provides financial resources for park management authorities and local governments to undertake restoration efforts, purchase equipment, and organize volunteer campaigns.
The renovated trails have already shown positive outcomes, increasing visitor safety and satisfaction. There is an ongoing emphasis on using sustainable materials and environmentally friendly techniques in all renovation activities to ensure long-term conservation. Plans are underway to expand volunteer engagement and incorporate digital tools like trail apps and interactive guides to further enrich visitor experience and ecological education.
If you are interested in joining these efforts, more specific information about volunteer schedules and how to get involved can be found from the relevant authorities. The future of Olenye Ruchyi Natural Park lies in the hands of passionate volunteers, and every bit of help makes a difference.
