Auri System Enhances Audio Accessibility at WYO Performing Arts Center
The WYO Performing Arts & Education Center in Sheridan, Wyoming, has taken a significant step towards improving audio accessibility with the installation of the Auri system. Powered by Ampetronic and Listen Technologies, this cutting-edge assistive listening technology is set to revolutionize the experience for individuals with hearing difficulties.
The Auri system offers wireless streaming of live audio over Wi-Fi, allowing users to listen directly through headphones or hearing aid-compatible neck loops (T-Coils) for optimal clarity and comfort. With the ability to support an unlimited number of listeners, large audiences can now access assistive audio without congestion or dropouts.
Users can manually select audio channels, automatically connect based on their location within the venue via beacons, or scan a QR code to access specific feeds, offering a flexible and convenient listening experience. The system also improves sound clarity and reduces background noise, benefiting not only people with hearing loss but also neurodivergent individuals and those sensitive to noisy environments.
The WYO, originally opened in 1923 and now housing two theaters and several multi-functional spaces, is committed to making the performing arts and education accessible. The Auri system has been installed in the Main Stage, known as "Sophie's Stage," to ensure better comprehension during performances and educational events.
For guests who do not have an Auracast-compatible personal device, a limited number of Auri receivers will be available to borrow. Theater guests with such devices can access the audio broadcast via their own devices. The WYO can also use Auri to provide audio description for visually impaired guests.
Erin Butler, executive director of the WYO, expressed her excitement about the installation, stating that the WYO will be future-ready with Auri as Auracast-compatible devices become more prevalent. The WYO's mission to inspire, educate, and entertain, with a strong focus on accessibility, is further strengthened by this technological advancement.
The WYO accessibility committee is dedicated to making performances more accessible and ensuring a positive experience for all attendees. With the Auri system, they are one step closer to achieving this goal, offering a more inclusive and engaging environment for everyone.
The Auri system's integration at the WYO Performing Arts & Education Center is not only enhancing audio accessibility for individuals with hearing difficulties but also improving sound clarity for neurodivergent individuals and those sensitive to noisy environments, thereby catering to a diverse range of lifestyles andhome-and-garden needs. As technology advances, with Auracast-compatible devices becoming more common, the WYO's decision to install the Auri system is a strategic step towards future-proofing their features, aiming to create a more technologically enriched environment for all.
