Thirty-one Ukrainian drones were blown up over Russian territory during the previous night.
Russia's air defense forces have been active in recent days, with multiple drone interceptions and neutralizations reported over various regions.
On the night of September 7, two Ukrainian drones were shot down and intercepted over the Smolensk region, according to a statement made by an unnamed agency. However, no specific time frame was given for these overnight interceptions.
The following day, from 23:00 on September 8 to 07:00 Moscow time on September 9, a significant escalation occurred. A total of 31 Ukrainian drone aircraft were intercepted and destroyed, with regions such as the Kursk, Belgorod, Tula, Voronezh, Kuban, Ryazan, Bryansk, Tambov, and the Kuban regions affected.
The majority of these intercepted drones, 15, were neutralized over the Black Sea. Seven were taken out over the Belgorod region, seven over the Voronezh region, one each over the Smolensk, Kuban, Crimea, Ryazan, Bryansk, and Tambov regions. One drone was intercepted over the Kursk region but not destroyed.
Interestingly, all the intercepted drones were of the same aircraft type.
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported these interceptions and neutralizations, but as of September 9, 2021, there is no publicly available information specifying who commanded the total of 31 Ukrainian drones that were shot down and destroyed.
It's important to note that no earlier mentioned regions were affected by the overnight interceptions, and only one region, the Kuban region, had a single drone interception without destruction.
These incidents highlight the ongoing tensions between Russia and Ukraine, and the increasing use of drone technology in modern warfare. The Russian air defense forces continue to remain vigilant, safeguarding the country's borders and airspace.
