Toni, the beloved dwarf hippo from Berlin Zoo, is preparing for a new adventure as she moves to Mulhouse Zoo in France at the end of August 2025. This news follows Toni's internet stardom after being named by public vote in August 2024, gaining international attention.

Toni, who recently celebrated her first birthday in June, will be leaving Berlin Zoo shortly. The zoo has arranged a special program for her daily at 1:30 PM from August 18, inviting fans to say goodbye before her departure. The farewell events are named “Toni Time.”

Antonio Rüdiger, a footballer, became the namesake of Toni and took on an honorary patronage. Toni, known for her sweet but slightly diva nature, according to zookeeper Svenja Schulze, has a fondness for peanuts.

As Toni prepares for her move, zookeeper Svenja Schulze finds it bittersweet. Svenja has been with Toni since the hippo's birth and has even bathed her in a tub when she was very small. Toni's interest in her mother Debbie is decreasing, which is a normal behaviour for solitary animals like dwarf hippos.

The exact moving date for Toni to Mulhouse Zoo has not been disclosed. However, it is hoped that Toni could one day have offspring of her own in Mulhouse Zoo. Many people in Berlin will miss Toni, and one zoo visitor hopes she makes many new friends in France.

Toni knows that she gets a peanut as a greeting when her keeper comes in the morning. The last day for visitors to see Toni in Berlin Zoo is August 24. With over 20,000 name suggestions received from around the world, Toni's move to Mulhouse Zoo marks a new chapter in her life.

The special program in Berlin Zoo includes watching Toni receive a shower with a water hose or an extra portion of peanuts. As Toni embarks on this new journey, we wish her all the best and can't wait to follow her adventures in Mulhouse Zoo.

Toni's transition to a new home-and-garden comes with an exciting lifestyle change as she prepares to move to Mulhouse Zoo in France. This shift promises new surroundings and possibly even potential pets for Toni, a dwarf hippo known for her fondness for peanuts.
