Transformation of the Agricultural Park into a Winter Wonderland of Christmas
The city of Markkleeberg is set to host the Christmas Garden Leipzig, a magical event by Christmas Garden Germany GmbH Berlin, marking the second venue in Saxony for such an occasion. This will be the first time the Christmas Garden Leipzig is held in Markkleeberg, adding a new sparkle to the festive season.
The Christmas Garden Leipzig aims to provide a haven away from the pre-Christmas hustle and bustle, offering visitors a unique experience of light and sound worlds. The event will take place at the Herfurth'schen Landscape Park, transforming it into a mesmerising winter wonderland from November 21, 2023, until January 7, 2024.
Visitors can look forward to a two-kilometer illuminated circular path that leads through the park each evening as darkness falls. The path will be adorned with captivating attractions such as a color ballet of colourful light rings, a moonlight meadow, a "Flowery Water Tale" told on a large mist wall, an image projected onto the former owner's villa known as the White House, and "Sound Lights" that respond to visitors' steps with changing colours and music when they step on light plates.
Christian Diekmann, Managing Director of Christmas Garden Germany GmbH Berlin, expresses optimism about the potential resonance of the Christmas Garden Leipzig. He hopes for similar success as in Dresden, where around 120,000 visitors were recorded in 2022.
The Christmas Garden Leipzig will join other locations in Germany, including the Botanical Garden Berlin, Stuttgart Wilhelma, fortress Ehrenbreitstein Koblenz, island of Mainau, and areas of zoos in Augsburg, Berlin, Hamburg, Hannover, and Karlsruhe, as part of the Christmas Garden events.
Europe boasts several notable Christmas markets and festive garden events, such as the Prague Castle Christmas Market in the Czech Republic and the seasonal displays in Vienna, Austria. However, specific Christmas Garden branded locations for the 2023-2024 season are yet to be officially announced.
Leipzig and Dresden are among the 20 Christmas Garden locations in Europe, making the Leipzig event an exciting addition to the festive calendar. The concept for the Christmas Garden Leipzig will be tailored to the respective location, ensuring a unique experience for visitors.
