Transformed shelter: The Ned turns into a Safe Refuge - consider the potential for your own property?
The Ned Joins the Safe Haven Initiative in the City of London
The City of London's Our Safer City initiative has gained a new member, as The Ned, a landmark hotel and members’ club, has joined the Safe Haven scheme. The Safe Haven initiative aims to make the City of London a safer, more welcoming place for everyone.
Located next to Bank Junction in the former Midland Bank headquarters, The Ned is the latest addition to the Safe Havens in the City of London. This prestigious venue offers ten restaurants and bars, 250 hotel bedrooms, a private members' club, and welcomes thousands of people daily.
Don Randall MBE, Chairman of the City of London Crime Prevention Association, welcomed The Ned's participation. He believes that the large volume of people using The Ned, coupled with Paul Gorry's personal ties to important women in his life, make the Safe Haven scheme particularly important for this venue.
Paul Gorry, Head of Security at The Ned, was inspired by the Safe Haven initiative at an Expo. He expressed concern over high-profile incidents involving crimes against women and felt the need to take steps to prevent such crimes. As part of their social responsibility towards staff, guests, and the public, The Ned has committed to providing safe spaces for anyone feeling vulnerable.
Participating premises in the Safe Haven scheme include cafes, shops, offices, community venues, and now The Ned. Joining the Safe Haven scheme is a simple process for participating premises in the City of London. Registration for premises to become a Safe Haven and for the Safe Haven app is free and can be done on oursafercity.co.uk or by emailing [email protected].
The Safe Haven app lists registered premises, making them easy for anyone in need of support to find. After completing the application process, The Ned is now part of the Safe Haven initiative. The training session for Safe Haven venues equips staff to offer reassurance and basic assistance.
Don Randall encouraged other premises in the City of London to join the Safe Haven scheme. By doing so, they can help make the City of London a safer place for everyone, ensuring that everyone feels supported and protected.
The Safe Haven app is available for download on Google Play for Android devices and the App Store for Apple devices. With the Safe Haven initiative growing in the City of London, it's never been easier to find a safe space in the heart of the city.
