Two Frankish inns rank within Bavaria's leading commercial ventures
The Bavarian State Ministry of Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Tourism, in collaboration with the Hotel and Restaurant Association DEHOGA Bayern, recently honoured 18 gastronomy businesses and 16 festival tent operators from Bavaria with the Quality Seal "Excellent Taste Kitchen" and "Excellent Beer Culture".
Minister of Food, Michaela Kaniber (CSU), and Angela Inselkammer, President of the Bavarian Hotel and Restaurant Association DEHOGA Bayern, presented the awards at an ceremony held on July 30, 2025, at the traditional inn "Der Pschorr" on Munich's Viktualienmarkt.
Among the recipients were the Gasthaus zum Schmied in Flachslanden (district Ansbach), which was recognised in the category "Excellent Taste Kitchen" for Middle Franconia. The Bayerischer Hof in Spalt (district Roth) was honoured in the category "Excellent Beer Culture".
These two Franconian gastronomy businesses were commended for their commitment to regional products and the creation of places of togetherness, regional attachment, and high-quality culinary delights. Minister Kaniber praised their efforts, stating, "These businesses embody the spirit of lived hospitality, culinary regional love, and the highest craftsmanship."
The Bayerischer Hof in Spalt, renowned for its beer specialties, received the Quality Seal "Excellent Beer Culture". On the other hand, the Gasthaus zum Schmied was recognised for its exceptional taste kitchen.
