Newborn Koala Makes Debut at Dresden Zoo
A mini koala girl has made her debut at the Dresden Zoo, marking a significant addition to the koala population. The joyful birth was announced by the zoo in May 2025, although the exact date remains undisclosed.
The newborn koala, born to mother Eerin, was initially hidden in her mother's pouch. However, by early July 2025, the koala baby began to emerge, making her visible to the public. This was confirmed by a family magazine post related to the zoo's holiday program, which ran from June 28 to August 10, 2025.
Koalas typically spend a considerable amount of time in their mother's pouch before becoming visible to keepers. This was the case with the new addition, who was carefully examined by vets and keepers since leaving her mother's pouch.
The birth was a rare sight at the zoo, as the process of koala births is not common. The zoo's statement reflected the professional care their animals receive, emphasizing that every animal is crucial for strengthening the population.
The birth was witnessed by keeper Olaf Lohnitz on 18 November 2024 from the visitor side. This was reported by MDR on Tuesday, July 15. The gender of the newborn koala is known, but her name has not been revealed yet. This is Eerin's second birth.
The Dresden Zoo is proud of its new addition and is now home to four koalas. Visitors can now catch a glimpse of the newborn koala in her enclosure at the zoo. The zoo is celebrating this happy news and looks forward to the koala's growth and development.
The new Koala has become a popular attraction at the Dresden Zoo, offering visitors a unique opportunity to observe her lifestyle in her home-and-garden enclosure. This addition to the zoo's home-and-garden section has added a touch of charm and tranquility, enhancing the overall lifestyle experience for visitors.
