Volunteer day of inclusivity, sponsored by MAPFRE Foundation, takes place at Real Club Náutico de Palma
In a bid to reaffirm its commitment to social inclusion, sustainability, and the development of a fair and solidarity-based society, the MAPFRE Foundation held a volunteer day at Real Club Náutico de Palma during the final day of the 43rd Copa del Rey MAPFRE sailing event.
Elena Sanz, CEO of MAPFRE IBERIA and patron of MAPFRE Foundation, participated in the activity alongside other company executives. The event was part of the 'Juntos Somos Capaces' (Together We Are Capable) program, a 15-year initiative by MAPFRE Foundation to promote the social and labor integration of people with disabilities.
Around 30 people participated in the event, including individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families who are part of the social entity Mater Misericordiae. The day was filled with engaging activities, such as a marine knots workshop and a creative photoshoot where participants took their own images to contribute to a large photographic mural.
The MAPFRE Foundation, with a focus on social inclusion as a key aspect of its sustainability efforts, works tirelessly to improve fairness and inclusion in society. One of its notable initiatives is the 'Juntos Somos Capaces' program, which empowers people with disabilities through various activities and support to foster their integration into society and the labor market.
Through this program, more than 6,600 people with intellectual disabilities have accessed job opportunities in companies committed to inclusion. Elena Sanz, in her participation, emphasized that companies have the opportunity and responsibility to build a future where all people, regardless of their abilities, have equal opportunities and rights.
The day ended on a high note with a shared meal at the club's facilities in a festive and convivial atmosphere. MAPFRE Foundation volunteers supported the event, accompanying participants at all times and fostering an inclusive, creative, and collaborative environment.
The initiative was inspired by an exhibition of photographer Christer Strömholm organized by MAPFRE Foundation and the Centre Internacional de Fotografia Toni Catany in Palma de Mallorca. The event serves as a testament to MAPFRE's belief that this commitment benefits people with disabilities and enriches society as a whole.
